Visions of Sugar Plums gets its inspiration from the famous holiday poem Twas the Night Before Christmas. In that spirit we've collected some wonderful art to enjoy, ponder and vision.

Art Nouveau will be displayed with pieces like this one to the left by Mucha whose graphic arts work helped originate the style, William Morris was an inspiration and worked at the same time through his Arts and Crafts Movement. Klimt continued the style as Modern Art along with others who will be displayed. Also enjoy a William Morris book Galaudet Gallery just published called William Morris: Designs, Art and More Collected by Galaudet Gallery.

We also welcome a return of the pomolgicals drawn by American Artists for the USDA between 1850--1930. The ones on view this time will be of course plums!

Algorithmic Art will also be a part of the Visions of Sugar Plums since it is the algorithm which establishes, allows and creates our visioning online. Inspired in part by the art exhibit Reverberating Echoes: which brought forth the idea of "algorithmic aesthetics" and Don Knuth's work with algorithms.

Folk Art like the wonderful carousel horses above will greet you as we continue our look into defining folk art as art made by self taught artists. Without self taught artists like Dallas John who made these horses, American Folk Art would be lost in stereotypical scenes and antiquated pieces. Jerome Lawrence on the right with his glowing Tulips Are People Too is another example of some of the folk art we will have on display.

And more will be present to delight and inspire. Stop in to just look and vision some sugar plums before, and after, Santa arrives!
